POSITION: Manager, Deli & Prepared Foods
STATUS: Full-time, Non-exempt
SALARY: $18.00 - $28.00 / Hour Depending on Experience and Match with the Company
DIRECTS: Report: Owner. Lateral: Operations

3+ years of successful prepared foods, catering, deli, kitchen, or chef experience

Ability to work well with other staff members outside of the Deli & Prepared Foods Department

Basic typing and computer skills with the ability to create and edit spreadsheets, documents, and signage as required by the department’s needs

Tasks and Responsibilities Include:

Staff Management: Manage Deli & Prepared Foods staff, including assigning, implementing, and monitoring tasks and operations so they are performed consistently and to store standards. Manage staff in keeping retail items fully stocked, fresh and clean, and attractively merchandised to maximize sales

Team Scheduling: Prepare weekly departmental shift schedules, keeping within payroll-to-sales guidelines

Inventory & Supplies Management: Order and maintain all departmental inventory, tools, supplies, and appliances used within the department

Guarantee of Profit: Cost out retail items and maintain target profit margins per item and department

Quality Assurance: Consistently use and improve tests and practices with items produced in-house to ensure quality and consistency of taste and presentation. Ensure products are consistently labeled adequately with prices, dates, ingredients, etc.

Creative Catalyst: Create and launch new prepared foods products and programs while tracking costs, profit margins, sales, and profitability. Develop sales promotion programs and coordinate with internal or external marketing and digital media contacts. Develop and maintain visually pleasing displays and merchandising.

Hiring, Training, and Retention. Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training a knowledgeable team of associates. Planned and executed effective training programs aimed at team member success, growth, and increasing employee retention rates.

Financial Reviews and Growth Adjustments: Analyze profit and loss statements and recommend improvements to meet department goals. Continually work towards increased departmental sales and profitability and movement velocity of all SKUs, removing slow movers and replacing them with new items to improve sales constantly. Grow sales in the department by creating new products, maintaining margins, and minimizing loss

Expansion of Products & Relationships: Engage and develop new relationships with potential outside partners for departmental growth, as well as new items and ingredients for catering, marketing, and sales. Manage catering requests and pursue outside catering opportunities

Demonstrate advanced product knowledge and maintain awareness of industry trends to bring new and exciting products to our customers.

Technology Integration: Grubb’s Grocery invests significant funds into technology. The Deli & Prepared Foods Manager is responsible for utilizing current technology and working with our Tech Provider (ECRS Catapult) to develop new products and applications to drive sales, promotions, inventory management, remote reporting, ordering applications, customer loyalty programs, etc. In addition, the Manager must maintain our product database (housed in the Catapult application) for accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring all fields and counts are accurate.

Maintain Certifications: Ensure that at least one key employee is Serv-safe certified and develops SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) around these requirements. Work with USDA Inspection to maintain 100% scores on all inspections. Work with other third parties on training and education initiatives to improve compliance with all regulations.

This full-time position requires open availability and the ability to work up to 40 hours per week and more at times as required by Grubb’s Grocery’s business needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
You must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of up to 4 hours without a break. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend to lift loads, acceptable for the physical requirements of the job, unassisted. Push and pull carts unassisted. The ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness and to check signage and labeling for accurate pricing.
